First Photos of the Shepard Site Dig, April 2002

The Shepard Site, day 2 of the dig (April 21, 2002). This photo was taken from one of the huge construction backdirt piles that border the site. Note the old apple trees in the background, in the same spot Godsoe depicts the orchard on his 1689 plan of the property.
Close up view of the dig on day 2. The southern wall of the house runs across the pits at the right. The cellar appears to measure 16' x 20'.

A range of artifacts have been recovered so far, including seventeenth and eighteenth century ceramics, tobacco pipes, bottle glass, window glass, nails and bricks.
