MSM 711
As part of the course participants will be required
to submit a plan for a unit drawing on a topic from the Linear Algebra. As a
guideline, think of a unit of 3 - 4 days’ worth of lessons. The project must include
Additionally the lesson must include a set of notes
to the teacher that would include helpful hints, pitfalls to be avoided, and
suggestions for assessing the activity. Sample responses to the questions
should also be included.
All projects must be clearly organized, typed and
either stapled or bound in a report cover.
Suggestions for appropriate topics: business –world
applications (good references: books in Finite Mathematics), cryptography
applications, using matrices for solving systems of linear equations, using
matrices in transformational geometry (i.e. stretching, shrinking, rotations,
etc.), matrix algebra, introduction to vectors. It is particularly appropriate to incorporate
technology into most linear algebra topics, although not absolutely required.

instructions, student exercises
and
responses, notes to teacher) 10 pts.
Organization 10 pts.
Grammar / appearance 10 pts.
Overall
clarity, coherence and completeness
including citations and a complete bibliography
