Class Discussion and Deliberation

Ground Rules

It is my job, as the professor, to moderate our class discussions and deliberations. Your job, as students, is to be engaged and responsible participants in every class. The following ground rules will help us get the most out of our discussions.

1. Everyone is strongly encouraged to participate.

2. Everyone understands that this is not a debate (not the Jerry Springer show).

3. No one or two individuals dominate.

4. The discussions will focus on the assigned texts or other subject matter.

       7. We listen to each other.

       8. Only one person may speak at a time.
