| The College boasts a vigorous Center for the
Creative and Performing Arts, which supports the production of
drama on campus. Since l996 I have written reviews of four College
plays for the Salem Evening News. In Spring l999 I brought best-selling
author Lauren Slater (Prozac Diary) to campus to meet with students
and read from her work. In addition, during Spring l999 I worked
with a student musician to help bring about the production of
an evening concert by singer-songwriter Pamela Means. Prior to
that, I brought singer-songwriter Kate Campbell (see Rosaryville,
her new CD from Compass Records) from Nashville to the campus
for a concert and lecture about Southern music, history and politics.
In l997 I wrote a feature article about Campbell for Acoustic
Musician magazine. |
