I have been teaching at Salem State College for the past
fourteen years. The teaching of writing has always been my primary
teaching love and I enjoy teaching freshmen as well as seniors.
My work experience and background in literature,
writing, public relations, business and politics, has taught me that to
be a good writer you need to appreciate language and the enormous power
it possesses.
Some of my favorite American fiction writers are: Carson
McCullers, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Irving and Willa Cather.
Poets I read with a good deal of regularity: Mark Doty,
Sylvia Plath, Lynda Hull, and Billy Collins.
Creative non-fiction writers that are on my book
shelves include: Jon Krakauer, Bill Bryson, Hunter Thompson and Jane Bronx.
I make my home in the City of Salem with my
husband and our two daughters.
