In this study, I measured RM's systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate while he simply relaxed (upper left picture) watched his snake, Beaux (middle picture), or touched him. His diastolic pressure as a function of time and treatment conditions are found in the lower center. As you can see, RM showed a significant reduction in blood pressure when he touched his long-time pet.
